Meet the Founders

Bianca Patel

My name is Bianca and I am a fourth-year medical student aspiring to be an Internal Medicine physician. I was raised in a Gujarati-American household and grew up in New Jersey. From a young age, I've always felt drawn to empathize with individuals facing adversity. This led me to medicine—I've always wanted to make a greater impact, raise awareness, and lend a helping hand wherever I can. Growing up, I often visited India, where I saw firsthand the silent struggles of poverty. Seeing how people persevere without complaint, working tirelessly to support their families really stuck with me. Later, volunteering at hospitals and shelters exposed me to diverse challenges in the community. As I learn more about inequities and global healthcare disparities, I become more certain about choosing medicine! I aspire to advocate for everyone whether through providing treatment, or simply bringing joy with a smile. But hey, life isn't just about medicine for me! I'm also all about fashion, traveling, exploring new places and meeting new people. Starting this foundation and inspiring others along the way has been a dream of mine, and I look forward to making a difference, connecting and embracing every adventure ahead. Let's make the world a little brighter together!

Melissa Usufally

My name is Melissa and I’m currently a fourth-year medical student who aspires to become an Emergency Medicine physician. I was born in Guyana and migrated to New York when I was 7 years old. Since I was a little girl, I’ve had the dream of becoming a doctor and as I grew up, I’ve discovered more and more reasons to achieve this dream of mine. Not only am I a first-generation college graduate, but I will also be the first doctor in my family.  One of my hobbies include traveling which has opened my eyes to the diversity of the world, and the struggles that many face daily. This has instilled in me a sense of responsibility to do my part in creating a more just and equitable society for all. I have also learned the value of empathy and understanding towards others, no matter their background or circumstances. I believe that every person deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their financial situation. I want to be able to provide hope and healing to those who are suffering, and I know that becoming a doctor is the best way to do that. I am excited for this opportunity to make a difference in my own community and beyond.
